The nude body
We were born naked. If we can shed the shame and inhibition we're taught,
we discover that it's comfortable and liberating to be nude. And the human body is beautiful. I
have lived a substantial portion of my life in the nude, both privately and in social settings,
as well as in frankly sexual situations. Friends, it's all good. It's great to be seen, and it's
wonderful to see the thrilling variety of human shapes. Folks in the "Naturist" movement talk
about "body acceptance." I mean no disrespect to those with less-than-perfect shapes to say I most
ardently admire bodies like those shown here.

The female form
Since the stone age, we have considered the nude woman to be the ultimate
embodiment of beauty. That unique yet infinitely variable combination of curves pleases the human
eye. The ancient Greeks tried to quantify beauty and esthetic perfection using mathematics. Maybe
there's something to that. But it's just as likely that human beings evolved to consider ourselves
-- and especially the opposite sex -- attractive. Still, you don't have to be a cultural critic
like Sir Kenneth Clark to recognize that the female nude is among nature's most gorgeous creations.
So let's enjoy what we see.

Simplicity & elegance
One school of erotic art leans heavily on lingerie, or
peek-a-boo outfits, or uses half-dressed models to tease. There's certainly an
element of erotic story-telling when the pictorial strip-tease is done right,
and I won't knock those who like it. But we nudity purists far prefer the simple
lines and direct sensuality of utterly uncovered flesh. I don't mind jewelry or other body
adornments, but you won't find me linking to any "All Garter Belts All the Time" sites. A
few of my favorite sites do on occasion start out with the model wearing something,
but I'll forgive them if she gets naked without a lot of fuss.

Nudity & sexuality
Most attitudes about nudity get only half the picture. The mainstream
American notion is that being naked is about sex. Period. This is why such terrible taboos
surround nudity: naked equals sex and sex equals bad and bad things must be hidden. But the
"Nudist" or "Naturist" movements take the opposite extreme: nudity is NOT about sex, they insist.
It's about freedom and acceptance and harmony with nature. I think both sides are true. Being
naked, and experiencing others naked, is natural and liberating. It's also sexually stimulating,
and can be a direct sexual invitation. And that's good.

Elegant interiors
We've all seen too much low-brow porn shot in sleazy
office buildings, cheap apartments and other cluttered or ugly settings. What I like are
photos set in well-chosen locations. These can range from luxurious houses to rustic
cottages, even stark, neutral studios or industrial sites. The common element
is the photographer's thoughtful use of settings that complement the model's
beauty. One interesting subset of this category: non-professional models who are
photographed in their own homes. By this I emphatically DON'T mean the typical slapdash "amateur"
junk that litters the web.

Nudes in nature
Few sights quicken my pulse like an attractive naked woman (or two --
or more!) in a wild outdoor location. Maybe it's the combination of the human female in her
most natural state and pure nature itself. Nudes in the wild also lend themselves to fantasies
about primitive societies or even the Garden of Eden. Imagine Xena the Warrior Princess or
Galadriel the Elf Queen, powerful and naked, on some mountain crag or in the deep woods! But
your imagination doesn't have to be as overheated as mine to appreciate normal modern women
nude on a beach, or in a farm field, or even a manicured garden.

Real women
There are women we might actually meet, and even have some
chance of becoming intimate with. Then there are the obvious performers, with that
porn-star look, who project the clear sense that they are for sale. My focus is on
the real women. That's not to say I have anything against professional models. There are
plenty of them on the sites I like. The models I like -- pro or amateur -- face the
camera frankly and openly. When they look at us through the lens, sometimes the gaze is
explicitly sexual. But it's not that bored, fake-slutty look. I like to see women who
genuinely enjoy themselves in front of the camera.

Women together
I love the idea -- and the sight -- of two women together. In
purely artistic terms, any two women offer wonderful contrasts. We can enjoy differences
in body type, skin color, hair and facial features: "her infinite variety," as Shakespeare
put it. If the women hint at, or directly play out, sexual attraction, that female-on-female
energy is endlessly exciting to a man. One reason: the male spectator sees only potential
partners, no rivals in sight. I have no disrespect for male-female eroticism. But my links
don't include sites focusing on standard boy-girl sex. If that's what you want you need to
look elsewhere.
